First thing I want to tell you that, if you want to play guitar, you must be diligent.You can’t be good if you don’t practice, it takes a long time to be good at guitar.So let’s start!
1 .Get to know your guitar
There are 2 kinds of guitar:Acoustic guitar,Electric guitar.

Electric Guitar
Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar has the same way to play but the sound of Acoustic guitar is produced from its strings and the Electric guitar’s sound is from the Pickup plug in to an Amplifier.Strings use for Acoustic guitar are Nylon strings and Steel strings,Electric guitar uses Steel strings.But if you’re beginner, you should learn to play an Acoustic first.
2.Learn music theory
Strings:A guitar usually has 6 strings:EBGDAE
E-1:the thinnest,highest
B-2
G-3
D-4
A-5
E-6:the thickest,lowest
Frets:Fret or fret board is where you place your fingers and play the note.The pitch between 2 frets is a half step interval.So what is a half step?For example:Place your finger on the 1st fret of the 6th string,play it,it’ll be F,move to the 2nd fret,it’ll be F#.Let’s see:
A – A#/Bb – B – C – C#/Db – D – D#/Eb – E – F – F#/Gb – G – G#/Ab – A
A to A#/Bb is a half step
A to B is a whole step
B to C,E to F is a half step
3.Guitar Tuning
Another important thing is to keep your guitar in tune.This will help you play the note sounded exactly.The standard tuning is EBGDAE.This means you don’t fret the note, just play the strings from 1 to 6 it’ll be EBGDAE.You just need to hear the sound of E string(thick or thin is okay) that is in tune,I’ll choose the thick, follow this:
The 6th string at the 5th fret with the 5th string is the same.
The 5th string at the 5th fret with the 4th string
The 4th string at the 5th fret with the 3rd string
The 3rd string at the 4th fret with the 2nd string
The 2nd string at the 5th fret with the 1st string
4.How to read tablature or tab

The number on the line is the number of the fret you have to place your finger on.”2″ means 2nd fret and “0″ means open string(unfretted).If the numbers on the strings are faraway each other,you’ll play each note but if it’s in alignment with each other, you must strum it.This is a very basic of reading tab because there are more an more symbols and techniques you have to learn.Tab is a fast way and easy way for beginners to read notes.
5.Practice
This is the most important.The more you practice the better you play.You must practice every day,regularly,start from playing chord and then songs,techniques,scale,…You must arranged your time to practice and have a good result.
